Community and School Gardens

There’s nothing quite like eating fresh veggies and fruits grown in your garden. The sweetness and flavor from each bite bursts in your mouth, leaving you with a clear understanding of what a tomato, pea and carrot is really suppose to taste like.

York Region is becoming a hub of ‘grow-your-own’ with the increase demand in home and community gardens. Benefits of ‘grow-your-own’ include:

  • Getting to know your neighbours by sharing produce, seeds, time and knowledge
  • Exercise
  • Creating a community space
  • Increased access to fresh local vegetables and fruits

From beginner gardeners to experienced food growers, there are opportunities and support for everyone interested to learn and grow food.
